The Proximity sensor is a kind of position switch that can be operated without direct mechanical contact with moving parts. When the object is close to the sensing surface of the switch to the action distance, it does not need mechanical contact and exerts any pressure to make the switch act, which will drive the DC electric apparatus or provide control instructions to the computer (plc) device.

The Inductive proximity sensors consist of three main parts: an oscillator, a switching circuit and an amplified output circuit. The oscillator generates an alternating magnetic field. When the metal target is close to this magnetic field and reaches the induction distance, eddy currents are generated in the metal target, resulting in oscillation attenuation and even stopping. The oscillation of the oscillator and the change of the stopping of the vibration are processed by the post amplification circuit and converted into a switching signal, which triggers the driving control device, thus achieving the purpose of non-contact detection.
How to connect the proximity sensor to the equipment:
The wiring of the 3-wire proximity sensor: the red (brown) wire is connected to the positive terminal of the power supply; the blue wire is connected to the 0V terminal of the power supply; the yellow (black) wire is the signal and should be connected to the load. The other end of the load is connected in this way: for NPN type proximity switch, it should be connected to the positive side of the power supply; for PNP type proximity switch, it should be connected to the 0V side of the power supply.
The three-wire proximity sensor has an additional feedback wire, and the general proximity switch is DC with an operating voltage of 6V to 36V, or AC with an operating voltage of 36V to 220V.
